Don’t worry about me, I’ll take a Shebah…

Investigating Australia’s first ‘female only’ ride-share platform.

If you are lucky enough to win one of the 5 Mum’s Day Off experiences we are giving away, then part of your amazing prize will include being driven around your experience activities by a Shebah driver. Yup, sit back, relax and let someone else negotiate the navigation safe in the knowledge that you are riding with an awesome female focus business.

Created by women for women, Shebah is an innovative Australian business driving change across the country by providing a safe and secure mode of transport for women and children. Following the success of its launch in Melbourne under a year ago, Shebah is now spreading its wings by adding an expanding list of locations to become a national name.

Founder and CEO of Shebah, George McEncroe is a comedian and single mother of four who founded Shebah for two reasons: she wanted to keep women and children safe while they travel, and she wanted to give women like herself a flexible employment option where they could earn a healthy wage and manage their hours around their family commitments.

Now officially national, Shebah is much more than a rideshare service, helping women flourish in both their personal and professional lives. Shebah has been instrumental in encouraging women to re-enter the workforce by not only providing employment opportunities, but also the less obvious benefit of allowing mums to stay at work or other obligations and use Shebah as a safe mode of transportation for their kids.

In an industry typically dominated by men, Shebah has successfully established an all-female space in a competitive and ever-evolving tech-based sharing economy. Shebah has created what has been dubbed ‘front seat freedom’, meaning passengers feel safe to travel in the front seat alone at any time of the day. This is game changing for the female drivers, the riders and the industry as a whole.

“Since our launch in March 2017, we’ve completed over 15,000 trips and have over 800 active drivers on the road. We’re very proud to be the first female-only transport solution as well as a flexible employment opportunity for women across Australia. Our success to date has been driven by the amazing women that drive for Shebah and their incredible stories. We’re thrilled to be expanding in Australia and have plans to launch overseas later this year,” George explains.

What sets Shebah apart is its diverse community of users. Shebah’s drivers and riders include women all of ages – they are students, suburban mums, retired professionals, transgender women, women with disabilities and women who choose not to travel with men for cultural reasons.

With women making up 76% of the casual work force and 60% of passengers in rideshare vehicles*, Shebah’s launch has been paramount in providing a safe, flexible and affordable travel alternative for Australian women and children. Ladies, let’s roll.

What sets Shebah apart:

  • 85% of revenue goes directly to their drivers (Uber is 73.5%).
  • Women can ride with their children and babies… or pets!
  • Children can travel unaccompanied by an adult when pre-booked by parents.
  • Its drivers must have ‘working with children checks’ – the only service to require this.
  • The service is achieving a 35% month-on-month growth rate that is purely organic/word of mouth.
  • New drivers receive a free half-hour phone consultation about financial planning to support them in building financial independence.

Shebah is currently available in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gold Coast, Townsville, Sunshine Coast and Perth. The app has already received over 33,000 downloads and the allfemale fleet of drivers continues to grow every day as women across Australia turn to Shebah.

For your chance to experience Shebah as part of a full day of papering worth over $1300, enter our competition to win 1 of 5 Mum’s Day Off experiences before 10/05/2018.
